Best 20 minutes of my week

I promise I had a lot to do today. We leave for Utah in 2 days and I'm no where near ready to go. I have some work assignments to finish up, a house that needs cleaning, a P90x workout that needs to get done, and a baby who REALLY likes to be held all the time.

But instead of doing any of those things during nap time, I did this:

I know it's not very pretty, but as soon as the idea came to me to create a little "Radiator Springs" for Luke to drive his cars on, I just had to do it right away.

As expected, he only played with it for about 20 minutes. But it was the best 20 minutes of my week.

(a close second was watching Luke run around the park in this crazy hat with the tassels flopping everywhere).

Jammie Rebellion and a Cookie Hunt

I've heard stories of kids who are picky about what they wear but haven't experienced much of that yet. Until today. Luke wanted to stay in his pajamas all day. I tried a few times to get him dressed. You can see for yourself what happened. Hiding underneath the bed and running from room to room. Ultimately, even tears. I know how to pick my battles and this was not going to be one of them today.

p.s. I kept trying to get him to say "pjs" or "jammies" because we are constantly working on helping him talk more. But he kept correcting me, "no, trucks!". Silly Mom. Don't I see the trucks all over his jammies?

p.p.s. Sometimes I also hear him walking around the house saying over and over, "Cookies, where ARE you?!" I've also heard him say this while searching the playground...

I wish I knew where the cookies were too, son. Let me know if they ever decide to reveal their hiding spot :)

Little boy is now 3 months old! I can't believe how fast time flies. I don't have any stats to report, but trust me...HE'S BIG!

Quote of the Day

I was reading a Dr. Seuss book to Luke and decided that this should be the quote of the day:

I learned there are troubles
Of more than one kind
Some come from ahead
And some come from behind.

But I've bought a big bat.
I'm all ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going
To have troubles with me!

(This is all figurative of course)
Sometimes as a Mom you have to find inspiration wherever you can get it.

Our Sunday Best

We're just wearing our "Sunday best" today thanks to the Clubbs who outfitted the family in Sweet Sixteen shirts. We will treasure them forever (and even wear them in 40 degree weather)!

In other news, Andrew and Luke posed for a picture right before his LAST official medical school assignment on Thursday. No more short coat. Now it's just finishing up some research and GRADUATING. We're counting down the days until June 7.

(yes, that is my son about to dip his spoon into a large jar of peanut butter. you caught me! but at least it is his own personal jar of peanut butter... no one else wants to touch it after he's done with it).

I'm Famous!

Not really, but my friend Sheryl is so I feel famous by association!

I recently discovered that Mormon.org has been creating "I'm a Mormon" videos to introduce the general public to the wide spectrum of personalities that make up our church. It's pretty fun to go and watch a few of them when I have some down time. I always think that these are the coolest people in the world but I have never actually known one of them personally. Until now.

Sheryl and I taught at the MTC together (she taught two doors down from me). She is truly one of the greatest teachers I have ever met. And get this...she even slept on my apartment floor when she was driving across Ohio on her way to DC! We had just moved to Ohio and had absolutely no furniture...not even a couch. I'm a little embarrassed thinking about it now that she is such a Mormon celebrity :)

Now you can meet her too...
