We were married 5 years ago today.
(and it was a Wednesday back then too)
I was worried that there is just too much going on in our lives right now to really take a night off and celebrate. Lets just say that there are a lot of things that need to get done in the next week and a half...and they are BIG things. But luckily we got to steal away tonight with some wood-fired pizza and a visit to the temple. There is really nothing like the feeling I get when I step inside the temple. It is like peace and comfort are infused in the air and I can't help but breath it in. Then all the really important stuff becomes so clear and obvious that I wonder how I managed to spend so much time sweating the small stuff.
What did I get Andrew for our anniversary? An oil & vinegar pourer. That's right. A little bottle that holds oil and vinegar and dispenses them in the perfect ratio for bread dipping. Romantic? Extravagant? No, not really. It paled in comparison to his awesome gift for me (no surprise there) but whenever Andrew pours balsamic vinegar it always spills down the side of the bottle and he is so annoyed. True love is noticing the small stuff right?
That day, back on April 25, 2007, was a great day. Perfect weather (surprising since it snowed a week before). Perfect ceremony. Perfect simple reception. We were really really happy. But when I had a chance tonight to think about what has come since then, namely two adorable wild men named Luke and Cam, I realized that today is a much better day. We are a little wiser now (not much) and have overcome a few challenges (248 down, 6 billion to go). Our faces are irreversibly rounder. Hopefully we're a little better now then we were back then. At least that is what we will toast to with our San Pellegrino tonight (mineral water...try it..you'll like it).
