I just picked up this beaut for FREE off the side of the road. It took a solid 45 minutes for me to convince Andrew that it is a diamond in the rough. It wasn't until I agreed to move the silverware to a different drawer in the kitchen that he finally consented (we compromise about the strangest things). I am in need of a sewing table and this has great potential I think. Especially love the cute legs and the little pull out side tables on either side.

But there is a part of me thinks it would be so fun to paint the base a bright color like red or blue. It would definitely become a focal point wherever I put it and I hate to commit to a color like that. But it could be a fun risk.
Anyone want to weigh in?

My vote is: go for a fun color! A well thought-out fun color, that is. I always figure, if I got it for free, I might as well run with my colorful ideas, because heaven knows I'm not going to risk messing up on something I paid good money for :-)
Go bold. Go red.
I go for pewter, with fun, bright contact paper that can be easier to change than to repaint the whole thing.

I think that is an awesome sewing desk. All those drawers- I'm jealous! If it were my sewing table it wouldn't matter what color it was because it would be constantly piled with so much stuff that it would never look pretty- so I say just do something that will make you smile while you're sitting there working.
Agree with the rest...jealous of a dedicated sewing table... go neutral on the paint... and get funky with the contact paper! I got some really fun contact paper at target. Black and white flowers.
I love the contact paper inside the shelves idea. That's a perfect way to add some personality with a fantastic pewter color. LOVE it!!
I'd say paint it a fun color...you can always paint over it with a neutral if you are tired of it. I see tables and chairs in all these fun colors and I would LOVE to have something bright and funky. It will make you happy just looking at it!! :)
