Tonight, while we were at our ward's Chili Cook-off (so fun), a very sweet older lady leaned over and asked me if anyone has ever told me that I look like a young Melissa Gilbert. I replied "No, I don't think I've heard that one." She stressed that I look like a young Melissa Gilbert...not the old Melissa Gilbert.
Seriously?Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Melissa Gilbert or Little House on the Prairie. But does anyone want to be told that they look like a young Melissa Gilbert? In all fairness, this wonderful lady was sincerely trying to give me a compliment and kept telling me how beautiful she thought I was (and apparently I must look about 15 years younger than I actually am). How can you be mad at such a sweet woman!? And honestly, there are some striking similarities, I will admit. So I just thanked her and laughed to myself. I will just add "a young Melissa Gilbert" to the long list of unattractive people I have been told I look like.
This has always been something that I find so funny. When I venture to tell people that they look like a famous person, I am very careful to make sure that that person is widely accepted as very attractive. We're talking Cindy Crawford, Catherine Zeta-Jones....for example, my friend Janay is a dead ringer for Christie Brinkley. I'm pretty sure that's a compliment.
Does this happen to anyone else?
By the way, Andrew REALLY DOES look like Brendan Fraser. It's kind of spooky. (I couldn't find the best pictures to compare, so you will just have to trust me on this).

1) Andrew is WAY better looking than Brendan Frazier.
2) I was told a few times in Japan by different people (unrelated and at different times) that I look like the Statue of Liberty. Um, okay (I had to google image her to see if she's hot). Other than that, my face must be too generic for people to make any connections to real people.
3) You look like a really hot combination of Cameron Diaz, Brooke Shields, Sandra Bullock (lots of guys think she's attractive), Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, and Beyonce. Yep, that's right.
Yes, Donut does look like Brendan Frazier, but have you ever noticed how much Doug looks like Val Kilmer?
That's so funny! I agree on the Andrew and Brendan comparison but you are soooo much cuter then a young or old Melissa Gilbert!
I can kinda see the resemblances, but I'm not very good with celebrity likenesses (and apparently she wasn't either). People do tend to tell me that I look like someone who is familiar, but they can never tell me who... I guess I have THAT face. Maybe they just thought I looked like Melissa Gilbert and decided to keep it to themselves. :) Mostly, these days I just look like a giant pregnant lady.
ummmmm that is funny. I do not see it at all. A little with Drew and Brendan Frazier. I am interested in doing Steve's comparison of Doug and Val Kilmer.
thanks you nice old lady... for nothing. I don't think you look like her at all! You have such lovely cheekbones, more defined facial shape, and beautiful sparkling eyes that she can't boast about. Never fear. The lady probably was spiced up on chili and high on chocolate.

Lauren, That is so funny!! I remember when I was 19 and someone told me I looked like Pat Benatar!I was so bummed. Pat has a great voice but, and I mean this in the nicest way,she is not that pretty. After that comment, I remember wondering if people saw someone different looking than the person I saw in the mirror. Ya know kind of like how your voice sounds different on a tape recorder! Things always get better with time because now I just think it is funny.
Lauren, Lauren, Lauren, you look nothing like the little house on the prairie girl. Although you have got to love little old lady comments. Drew on the other hand I can kind of see it.
