Waiting to Shower

Its really sad when something stinks in your house and you search all over only to realize that its you. But I have a good excuse. Luke was up all night throwing up with a high fever and I have yet to take a shower. I'm not totally sure when I'm going to have a chance to get this throw-up smell off of me. Andrew has been on call at the hospital since 7am yesterday and I'm not sure when he'll be home. Plus, I don't know if Luke is done yet, so I hesitate leaving him. Writing is a great distraction right now.

A few observations. At about 2:30am when Luke was screaming and burning like an oven, I rushed him downstairs and put him on the couch while I looked for the Tylenol. Of course it wasn't until AFTER I gave him Tylenol and Motrin that he threw up all over the couch and me (just in case you're wondering, this is why you don't give them at the same time...so if they throw up one, you can still give them the other). Normally, I think most people wouldn't want their child to throw up all over the couch, but I left Luke there until he appeared completely done about an hour later. I know that I sometimes complain about our couch covers because I hate the constant tucking and re-tucking, but last night I couldn't have loved them more. After he fell asleep I just threw the cover in the washer and now its good as new. Being poor has never been so awesome!

I also learned some new things from early morning television that I had forgotten from the time I was a nursing mom. Did you know that if you're too busy to work out, that you can take a pill to lose all your excess weight? Being too busy seems like a perfectly logical excuse to intake a shifty drug that can only afford commercial time at 3am. In fact, there must be a lot of sick people up at night because I have never seen so many shifty drug commercials/infomercials in my whole life.

I also think that 3am is when they give all the rookie reporters practice at reading the national news. That is probably a wise idea.

Lastly, I have to admit that I was initially very upset that all of this had to happen while Andrew was on call. I normally rely on him to calm me down when Luke gets sick so I don't totally freak out. However, I knew he would be up so I called him right away and immediately had access to all the advice I wanted from the experienced doctors at Children's Hospital (where he is working this month). How awesome is that?! Anything we were a little unsure about was immediately addressed by the best pediatricians in Columbus. Having Andrew on call has never been so convenient!

Just to wrap up, I can't resist posting some of our (Luke and I) favorite youtube videos as of late. These are way better than all the truck/train videos he always wants to watch. I actually watched the Adam Sandler one again after Luke went to sleep. What's happening to me!?? I may need more adult interaction.

The last duck cracks me up when he's all alone. I'm really easy to please.

My friend and old mission companion already posted this on her blog. I always knew we were soul mates.
